# Intuition Engine licensing

Copyright in Zayn Otley's original work remains with **Zayn Otley**.
The project uses different licences for its implementation, SDK examples
and SDK interfaces. A copy of a licence text does not apply that licence
to every file in the same archive.

| Material | Current terms |
|---|---|
| Zayn Otley's engine implementation, host tools, IntuitionOS, controller, drivers, build tools, documentation and original artwork, except the explicit exceptions below | `LicenseRef-IntuitionEngine-Proprietary` |
| His SDK example source under `sdk/examples/asm`, `sdk/examples/basic` and `sdk/examples/c`, including corresponding browser copies and compiled forms | `AGPL-3.0-or-later` |
| His BASIC implementation in `sdk/include/ehbasic_*.inc`, used by the BASIC entry file in the examples | `AGPL-3.0-or-later` |
| His five Amiga SDK examples: `sounddemo.c`, `layerdemo.c`, `copdemo.c`, `mode7demo.c` and `genlockdemo.c` | `AGPL-3.0-or-later` |
| His public SDK C headers in `sdk/include/*.h`, hardware include files `ie32.inc`, `ie64.inc`, `ie64_fp.inc`, `ie65.inc`, `ie68.inc`, `ie80.inc`, `ie86.inc`, `ieppc.inc`, the `iexec.inc` interface and `ie65*.cfg` linker configurations | `MIT` |
| His public Amiga SDK interfaces in `sdk/amiga/include`, except material with separate third-party terms | `MIT` |
| His contributions in mixed MIT PowerPC library files | Proprietary for his contributions; original MIT code and notices remain under MIT |
| Third-party code, fonts, music, game material and other separately licensed or public-domain material | Existing component terms; see the audit and original notices |

The complete texts are in `LICENSES/`. File notices take precedence over
the default for a directory. Interface files can contain macros and inline
helpers: the MIT grant covers that code as well as declarations. Internal
implementation headers are proprietary unless explicitly designated otherwise.
The BASIC implementation includes are AGPL, not MIT interfaces.

## Third-party notices

[Third-party notices and source references](LICENSES/THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt)
are supplied with this policy. The collection preserves component licences,
copyrights, permissions and disclaimers. It covers the native, WASM and SDK
release set; not every listed component is included on every platform.

EmuTOS source is maintained in the
[Intuition Engine EmuTOS fork](https://github.com/IntuitionAmiga/EmuTOS).
The supplied source revision must correspond to the ROM in the release.

`LICENSES/AHI-source.tar.gz` supplies the matching AHI device and handler
source, our patch, build support, headers, licence texts and build/relink
instructions. The shared licence staging helper includes this archive in
the SDKs, live-image payload and browser support files.

The engine's `-licence` option prints this policy and the complete notice
collection. Each component keeps its own terms. Notice delivery does not
replace any applicable source, relinking-material or modification-notice duty.

## Proprietary releases

The native engine and WASM engine use the same proprietary licence.
Authorised x64 live images and WASM releases permit free personal,
non-commercial use. Redistribution of proprietary material requires a
separate express written commercial authorisation, even if no money changes
hands. Commercial use also requires a separate licence. Raspberry Pi use
and distribution require separate authorisation.

Zayn Otley Cybersecurity BV can distribute and grant distribution
sublicences within separate written authority from Zayn Otley. The BV does
not become the copyright holder through these notices. This repository does
not execute the separate company agreement.

## SDK examples and independent programs

The AGPL examples and MIT interfaces permit commercial use and
redistribution under their respective terms without a separate fee to
Zayn Otley. Those permissions do not extend to the proprietary engine or
host tools. Independent guest programs do not become proprietary or AGPL
merely because they run on Intuition Engine or use MIT interfaces.

When distributing compiled AGPL examples, supply their corresponding
source under the AGPL, including the BASIC implementation includes where
applicable, and preserve the required notices. Music, images and embedded
third-party material keep their separate terms. A source filename in a
browser manifest is not by itself proof of complete source delivery.

Zayn Otley retains the right to use and license his own example and BASIC
code separately, including in the proprietary engine. The public AGPL
grant does not transfer his copyright. No such authority is claimed over
third-party material.

## Earlier releases and third-party rights

Earlier versions released under GPL or another licence retain those grants.
The new terms do not revoke those rights or impose a fee on their exercise.
No change to the visibility of a repository changes this rule.

Third-party notices and compliance duties remain applicable to combined
distributions. A proprietary notice on original project code does not
override a third-party copyleft requirement. Separately licensed integration
files, including the retained AHI support files, keep their stated terms.

The top-level licence applies by default only to original work owned by
Zayn Otley. It makes no ownership claim over third-party material, operating
system packages, external toolchains or user-created output.
